Local knowledge
The work grows from everyday life in Mityana and from understanding the community around the children.
Purple Rose Orphans is rooted in Mityana. We care for children as part of the community around them, not apart from it.
Where we can, we also support families in vulnerable circumstances, work with local volunteers and strengthen the connections that help children remain part of the people and place they know.
Purple Rose is a community-based organisation. That means knowing the place, the families and the people around the children, and building support with respect for those relationships.
The work grows from everyday life in Mityana and from understanding the community around the children.
Where possible, support should strengthen families and help children remain connected to people who care for them.
People from Mityana can contribute time and skills in ways that are practical, familiar and locally rooted.
Community support should be practical and respectful, without turning hardship into a fundraising spectacle.
Purple Rose does not only look inward at the home. When resources allow, we also support families in the local community who are facing severe hardship.
At Christmas, Purple Rose supported 10 families in vulnerable circumstances with practical help shared with dignity and care.
Children benefit when care respects family ties, local identity and the people already present in their lives.
Purple Rose is part of the Mityana community and aims to work with people, families and local relationships wherever possible.
Strong community relationships work together with a safe home, nutritious food, good health, education and opportunities for play and practical skills.
Your support helps Purple Rose respond to practical community needs while keeping children connected to the people and place around them.
